Qatar University Hosts 4th Entrepreneurial Showcase Event for College of Business and Economics Students

Qatar, December 25th, 2018 – Qatar University’s (QU) Foundation Program Department of English (FPDE) along with the Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE), a center under the College of Business and Economics (CBE), recently held “The Entrepreneurial Showcase Event.” The event is a demonstration of CBE students’ work on a course project related to inventing ideas for new businesses in Qatar.

The event exhibited 82 business ideas on posters for the general public to view and each student gave visitors presentations about their business ideas in English. They also administered surveys to use as market research for each of their respective topics. Qatar University Workshop Explores Opportunities for Collaboration in Construction Sector

Attended by more than 130 academics and experts

Qatar, December 24th, 2018 – The College of Engineering (CENG) at Qatar University, in collaboration with Constructing Excellence in Qatar (an Ashghal initiative) and sponsored by Qatari Diar, recently organized a special workshop for industry and academics entitled “Bridging the Gap”, aimed to identify opportunities for collaboration between academia and all key stakeholders in the construction industry.

The event worked to bridge the gap between the academic field and the industry, to discuss problems, issues, and challenges facing construction industry in Qatar. The workshop sought to build better connections between researchers and industry practitioners, and to identify areas of collaboration for future action research and education. Qatar University and Shanghai International Studies University Sign MOU

Qatar, December 10th 2018 – In the context of strengthening international relations and partnership, Qatar University (QU) and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday at QU. QU President Dr. Hassan Al-Derham and SISU President Dr. Li Yansong, were present at the signing ceremony alongside a number of officials from the two academic institutions.

The purpose of this agreement is to promote cooperation between the two universities, especially in the academic and research field, as well as to promote exchange programs for both students and faculty members. GCC Countries Dominate Top 5 Arab States Recording in ICT Development Index

Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, KSA, Oman rank in top 60 globally

UAE, December 24,  2014 – ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certification program in Egypt, GCC States and Iraq, has expanded on the recent findings of the 2014 report published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations’ specialized agency for ICT, pointing out the outstanding performance of the GCC countries in the report. The ITU’s flagship annual report ‘Measuring the Information Society Report’ has identified Gulf countries among the group of ‘most dynamic countries,’ having recorded above-average improvements in their ICT Development Index (IDI) rank over the past 12 months. Qatari Students to Benefit from New Learning Resources

Pearson and ScorePlus to provide programmes that will help overcome learning challenges in Qatar

Doha, Qatar, 1st September 2013 – Pearson, the world’s largest education company, and StudyPlus, a subsidiary of ScorePlus Middle East, have announced a partnership which will see thousands of school children in Qatar provided with state-of-the-art learning programmes at their newly established Centre at Al Saad Doha.

Dr. Finn Kydland, Nobel Laureate – Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar

Policy Consistency and the Growth of Nations

Qatar, March 9th, 2013 – Ilker Baybars, Dean of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, will host Dr. Finn Kydland in Doha as part of the Richard M. Cyert Distinguished Lecture Series in Business Management. Dr. Kydland holds the Richard P. Simmons Distinguished Professorship at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his Ph.D. He is also the Henley Professor of Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Carnegie Mellon alumnus Dr. Kydland was the joint recipient of the 2004 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, together with Edward C. Prescott. The pair was recognized “for their contributions to dynamic macroeconomics: the time consistency of economic policy and the driving forces behind business cycles.”
